Piles or hemorrhoids are a condition in which the veins in or around the rectum and anus swell up. They are of 2 types: internal hemorrhoids, that occur inside the rectum and external hemorrhoids that occur around the anal opening.
People who suffer from diarrhoea and constipation for a prolonged period, obese people, pregnant women, and those who physically strain themselves during bowel movements or otherwise are more likely to develop piles. The chances also increase as the age progresses.
Yes. If a person strains excessively while passing stool, it may lead to bleeding from the rectal or anal area that can be seen after passing stool.
