Can I reduce my inguinal hernia with yoga?

You may not be able to reduce your inguinal hernia with yoga, but it can reduce the chances of getting a hernia in the first place. 

Yoga also helps to avoid hernia recurrence. While if you have an inguinal hernia, it's better to consult a doctor before doing any yoga asanas. The cause of an inguinal hernia is a weakness in your lower abdominal muscles. Usually, it occurs in or around the groin area. So, you must avoid any yoga pose that includes abdominal pressure or vigorous breathing. Such yoga exercises may aggravate the hernia pain. 

However, you can try out some yoga poses such as yoga-nidra, tree pose, leg crossing, and single-leg raise with movement. These poses won't put pressure on the abdominal opening and will keep you healthy. Still, surgery is the best option to treat hernia.
