After a total knee replacement, how long did it take to work all the stiffness out and feel good?

Knee stiffness is a common complication following a total knee replacement surgery. This is due to the swelling present after the surgery. This usually lasts for 2 weeks to 3 months which is considered normal.

Stiffness after a TKR surgery can be reduced by:

• Applying warm or cold compression as advised by your surgeon. 

• Massaging around the incision site.

• Saoking your leg in a warm tub of water after the incision has healed.

• Regualr walking to facilitate regular functioning of the knee joint.

• Regular knee exercises as advised by your surgeon. 

However, any stiffness that persists for long should be brought to the surgeon's attention, to find out the cause of prolonged stiffness.
