A MRI peripheral angiogram is a test used specifically for examination of blood vessels in the body’s peripheral organs, including the: Chest Abdomen Internal organs Pelvis
When your blood vessels are narrowed, blocked, or damaged, they can trigger complications such as a stroke, a heart attack, or even a chest pain. With an MRI peripheral angiogram, your doctor will be able to find out the main vessels that have been injured and also determine to what extent the damage took place.
You will be sedated with an intravenous sedative. Thereafter, a catheter will be inserted into one of your veins. A contrast dye is then injected for better visualization. Thereafter, an MRI scan of your periphery will be taken. The images formed show the path of the dye and its progress and help your doctor to determine whether you have any problems.
