This procedure uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of your neck region. Angiography is a procedure designed to monitor the blood vessels that exit the heart and enter the brain.
This procedure is important because it allows your doctor to observe the blood vessels supplying your neck, and can easily detect any abnormalities in them.
You will lie flat on a scanning table with your arms by your side. Coils will be placed around your neck region. Using a remote device, the technician will slide the table into the magnet. The scan will take place now. Note that you will not feel anything during the scan, but you may hear clicking, knocking, thumping, and intermittent humming sounds. A contrast dye may be injected before the procedure to make the images sharper and clearer. The MRI exam is completed in 45 minutes or thereabouts.
